  • 24V COB LED Strip Transformer Sizing Guide

This guide applies to standard 9W/m, 24V COB LED strip lights. Select the transformer according to the combined length of all LED strip sections connected to it.

Total LED Strip Length Recommended Transformer
    Less than 8 ft 24W
    8–13 ft 40W
    14–20 ft 60W
    21–32 ft 96W
    33–64 ft 200W
    65–96 ft 300W

Maximum Length for a Single Continuous Run

A single continuous LED strip run can be up to approximately 10 metres (32 feet), provided that the transformer has sufficient capacity and the low-voltage wire between the transformer and the LED strip is kept under approximately 2 feet.

Extending one continuous run beyond 32 feet may cause the far end of the strip to appear dimmer due to voltage drop. For longer installations, divide the LED strip into shorter sections and connect them to the transformer in parallel.

Important: If different LED strip sections are controlled by separate switches, each switch-controlled circuit will normally require its own transformer.

This chart is a general sizing guide for 9W/m, 24V LED strips. Actual requirements may vary depending on wire length, wiring layout and installation conditions.
